Janessa recently graduated from Temple University with degrees in Speech, Language & Hearing Science and Spanish. While a student, she worked as a conversation partner at Temple's Student Success Center, helping students improve their conversational skills in English and Spanish. She also contributed to research in bilingual language acquisition as a research assistant and Diamond Research Scholar. Janessa was awarded a Fulbright Research Grant to investigate patterns of English language acquisition in young Jordanian students, and she looks forward to undertaking this project next year. In the meantime, Janessa is very happy to join Achieve Now as a Reading Specialist to share her love for linguistics, literacy, and Philadelphia with emerging readers.
